School Council

The School Council is made up of two children (one boy, one girl) from each class and meets once a month at lunchtime. It provides an important opportunity for children to give direct input into decisions being made in school.

About The Council

Here at Burbage Junior School, we have a pro-active school council. We meet regularly to discuss school matters as well as planning and getting involved in new projects.

In September 2016, two children from each class were elected as school councillors. We have 24 councillors in total.

Aims

The aims for our school council are:

- To give children an active role in school life;

- To allow children to represent the views of their classmates;

- To provide children with an opportunity to discuss issues which affect them;

- To be involved in decision making processes, working with others to solve problems fairly;

- To feedback to the school on issues which have arisen;

- To help children to become better listeners and public speakers;

- To help improve the school environment; and

- To provide a link between the school and the local, national and international communities.

 What we achieved last year:

- Welcomed and guided visitors to the school;

- Organised cake sales for various charities throughout the year.
