Pupil Premium

Pupil premium funding is allocated based on historic and current free school meals data.  The Burbage Junior allocation for 2015/16 is £52,000.  This funding is being used to provide small group intervention work, one to one tuition, school uniform vouchers, residential visits, targetted classroom support and one day per week teaching for individuals and small groups.

Last year, we spent our Pupil Premium funding in several areas to help raise pupils attainment and attitudes to learning. We had teaching assistant led intervention groups in mathematics, reading, writing and spelling, support with uniform and music tuition, revision guides and attendance to a confidence booster with Andy Cope. When completing termly reports on attitudes to learning, they showed that on the whole pupil premium pupils had a good or excellent attitude to learning and this improved as the year progressed.

We offered music lessons and sport clubs to give pupils a broad education and the opportunity to represent the school in different activities: football and badminton tournaments and performing in the school choir.

The 2015/2016 end of KS2 results show that 30.8% of pupil premium children achieved age related expectations. As a result we have started more specialist teacher-led intervention groups to help improve attainment for pupil premium children.

Pupil premium pupil’s attendance for the academic year, when reviewed in March 2017, is at 95.59%.
